Accessibility

Accessibility for our Farm Tours and Holiday Cottages

We want everyone, whatever their ability, to enjoy their visit to Bellevue. We understand for some people with disabilities or those travelling with young children, a little planning may be required to feel confident that you will enjoy your visit.

We hope the descriptions below will help you prepare for your visit.

Our Farm Tours

Arrival
Our parking area is large enough for many cars and larger vehicles such as motorhomes and coaches. The parking area is level with a compacted stone surface which is a little uneven in places. Our experience tells us that buggies and pushchairs can easily navigate this surface.

We have dedicated ‘Disabled Parking’ spaces adjacent to the barn and level concreted access into the barn from these spaces.

Toilets
Access to our toilets is on the level. One toilet cubicle is fully accessible with a higher than standard, pan height of 47 cms. There is a grab rail next to the toilet and a pull cord to raise the alarm if help is required. There is also a lowered sink (74cms)  in the cubicle suitable for wheelchair users. There is a pull down baby changing shelf in this cubicle.

Tours
Farm experiences focus on the paddocks and barns adjacent to the farmyard area. The farmyard area has a rough but even surface that is suitable for buggies, pushchairs and with care those walking with a walking aid.

On the Farm Tour there is a section of rough ground and a steep slope. Most buggies manage this, but it is not suitable for wheelchair users. If you are considering joining one of our tours and have concerns about access, we encourage you to contact us by email or phone before your visit to discuss your needs as access can be affected by weather conditions.

If your disability is of one of the senses (e.g. hearing, sight etc) our team will be happy to help you to get the most from your visit and will be on hand to ensure that you are safe and comfortable at all times.

Please also note that our Barley to Bottle tour is not suitable for wheelchair users as access to the barley field is over rough grassland.

Medication
If you need to keep any medication chilled while you are here, we have a fridge in the barn where we can store your medicines.

Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome at our farm. For safety reasons we cannot accommodate dogs on our farm tours, but owners are welcome to walk their dogs in the farm yard area before and after tours and if necessary can easily return to their vehicle during the tour to check on their pets.

Our Holiday Cottages

Our cottages are all on one level. To enter both properties, front and back, visitors have to go up one step and over the lip of the main entry door. A ramp can be provided if requested in advance.

The cottages are relatively compact within the bathroom and bedroom areas, and you would not be able to access these areas in wheelchair. Both cottages have baths with overhead showers and as such there is a large step up over the side of the bath to access the shower.

Anyone who has specific access requirements we suggest that you contact us directly by phone or email and we’d be delighted to discuss your individual needs and how we can help you to overcome these.
